Our Ag Machinery movement on road has been under review for some time now so I do expect some updates at some stage in 2020. But at the moment these are the relevant notices and regulations:
- Majority of Ag Machines – t070-sa-notice-of-approval-and-exemption-oversize-overmass-agricultural-vehicles-driven-on-roads
This current gazette notice must be carried in each machine that is oversize. Either print it out or it needs to be saved to an electronic device.
Code of Practice:
As mentioned above, this is under review so will change soon I expect.
In years gone by, farmers were required to carry the Code of Practice in machinery, but this was revoked in 2011, it is no longer required.
This is a summary of the main elements of moving Ag Machinery on road
These are relevant to Ag Machinery also, but the Code of Practice outlines the default rules for our Ag Machinery on road, followed 2nd by elements of the Escorting Guidelines
There is a separate gazette notice for Rubber Tracked Machinery (even if it’s on the the front axle). You also need to check if your local council requires a permit application, some do and some don’t seem to worry about it.
